Newly elected Canyon County officials took their oaths of office before a packed crowd in the public meeting room of the courthouse today.
Craig Hanson was sworn in as District 3 Commissioner after defeating incumbent Commissioner David Ferdinand in the May Primary and running unopposed in the November general election. Hanson is a former Captain in the Canyon County Sheriff's Office and also worked as their chief crisis negotiator before being elected as Commissioner.
Kieran Donahue was sworn in as Canyon County Sheriff, taking over for retiring Sheriff Chris Smith. Donahue defeated two GOP rivals in the May primary and won the November general election over an independent challenger. Donahue, who has been in law enforcement since 2004, is the former Chief Deputy of the Sheriff's Office.
District 1 Commissioner Steve Rule and Prosecutor Bryan Taylor were also sworn into office today after both winning re-election in the May primary.
