Field Services of the Canyon County Sheriff's Office is under the administration of Captain Dana Maxfield. The Field Services Section includes Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Communications (Dispatch), Marine Patrol, Records and Driver's License. Captain Maxfield holds a Bachelor of Science degree in both Criminology and Political Science from Eastern Oregon University, a POST Management Certificate and is a graduate of the prestigious Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command College.

Each area of Field Services is managed by highly trained, dedicated, and experienced ranking Deputies that are an integral part of Sheriff Donahue's Command Staff. They bring expertise and experience to the Sheriff's Office and truly care about the services we provide to our customers.
The Patrol Section is the most visible section of the Canyon County Sheriff's Office. This section is divided into three County Sectors, which are managed by Lieutenant Donia Ballard and Lieutenant Bill Adams.
Lieutenant Donia Ballard holds a POST Management Certificate and is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command College. Lt. Ballard has served the Canyon County Sheriff's Office since 1992.
Lieutenant Bill Adams holds a POST Management Certificate and is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command College. Lt. Adams has served the Canyon County Sheriff's Office since 1990.
Emergency Management & Field Services Support Units
Lt. Todd Herrera holds a POST Management Certificate and also serves as the County's Emergency Management Coordinator and supervises the Field Services Support Units; Driver's License , Records and Civil Process Offices. Lt Herrera has served the Canyon County Sheriff's Office since 1991.
Criminal Investigations Section
The Criminal Investigations Section is divided into six specific disciplines and supplemented by an on-site Forensics Unit. This section is managed by Lieutenant Chris McCormick.
Lieutenant McCormick holds an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from the College of Southern Idaho, a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Organizational Leadership from George Fox University, and a Master’s Degree in Business administration from Northwest Nazarene University. He has served with the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office since 1997 and holds an Idaho POST Advanced Certificate.
In addition to his normal investigative responsibilities, Lieutenant McCormick serves as the agency’s Crisis Response Unit (CRU) Commander and oversees Special Weapons & Tactics (SWAT), the Critical Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT).
Marine Patrol Section
The Marine Patrol Section is managed by Lt. Ben Keyes. Lt. Keyes has served the county in Marine Patrol since 1982. He has achieved POST Advanced Certification and is one of four people in the State of Idaho who qualify as a Master Instructor in Marine Law Enforcement. Lt. Keyes is an instructor for all current Marine Law Enforcement classes offered by the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation.

Our Communications Section (dispatch) and Warrants are managed by Roxanne Wade.
