Help Reduce Air Pollution
Canyon County and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality are seeking the public's assistance in
reducing air pollution during the winter, which could help lessen the impact of inversions.
When the air quality index reaches 60, a burn ban is in effect, and residents are asked to abstain from
open outdoor burning. When the AQI reaches 74, the ban includes fireplaces and wood stoves.
To find out what the AQI is, please check out the DEQ website at
http://www.deq.state.id.us/air/data_reports.cfm
or call the DEQ burn line at 373-0313 or Canyon County Dispatch at 454-7531 to verify whether outdoor burning
is allowed on a particular day.
