    • County To Begin Auctioning Off Surplus Items Online Starting May 11th

      Canyon County is turning to the World Wide Web to help get rid of its surplus items.  Starting Friday, May 11th at 8:00 a.m., the county will be conducting an ongoing, online auction at www.publicsurplus.com.

    • Canyon County Fleet Named One Of The 100 Best Fleets In North America

      The Canyon County Fleet Department, under the direction of manager Mark Tolman, has received national recognition for its innovative work in providing a green and fiscally sustainable fleet of vehicles.  Government Fleet Magazine has announced that Canyon County is among the 2012 winners of “The 100 Best Fleets in North America,” and will be honored with the prestigious award during the Government Fleet Expo & Conference in Denver, CO on June 18 – 20.

    • May is Idaho Archaeology & Historic Preservation Month

      Canyon County Parks, Recreation and Waterways is celebrating Idaho Archaeology & Historic Preservation Month with a variety of events.

    • The Canyon County Passport Office will be closed the week of May 14th.

      The Canyon County Passport Office will be closed the week of May 14th.   Passport agents are also election clerks and their services are required in the Elections Office.  Passport processing will resume on May 21st, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 246, Canyon County Courthouse.  We apologize for the temporary closure and look forward to serving you.

    • Canyon County Weed & Pest Control Offering Owl House Installation

      The Canyon County Weed and Gopher Control department is offering to help residents manage pocket gophers and other rodents by installing Barn Owl houses on their property.  Barn Owls offer an effective form of natural pest control that often provides better results than conventional trapping or poisons.  The use of Barn Owls for pest control is also eco-friendly, and requires little to no maintenance.

    • Celebrating Canyon County's History: KBOI's 120 Stories For 120 Years

      KBOI Channel 2 is taking a look at the rich history of Canyon County with their ongoing segment "Canyon County: 120 Stories For 120 Years." The stories air every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday on KBOI 2 News at 10:00 p.m. Each story is also scheduled to re-run the following day on KBOI 2 News at 5:00 p.m.

    • New Business Personal Property Tax Procedures Being Implemented For Construction Related Companies

      The Canyon County Assessor’s Office is offering “how to and informational” meetings on the new business personal property tax procedure that is being implemented for all construction related companies in tax year 2012.  The new procedure requires all construction companies statewide to be classed as “transient” accounts.

    • Courthouse Security

      As part of the County’s ongoing process to provide for the safety and security of its employees and visitors, the following entrance protocol is effective immediately: All persons entering the courthouse through the main entrance on Albany Street will be subject to the walk-through security metal detector and follow up scanning as necessary. This includes employees and frequent visitors to the courthouse.

      Canyon County is actively seeking agricultural businesses who are looking to reduce their costs, operate in an agriculturally-friendly environment and have room to grow. A website designed to assist these business with information about what Canyon County has to offer has been created at http://www.canyonco.org/agribusiness.
