New OHV Training Facility Open At Jubilee Park
8/9/2012

A new training facility for off-highway vehicles (OHV) is now open and ready for use at Jubilee Park in Canyon County.

A new training facility for off-highway vehicles (OHV) is now open and ready for use at Jubilee Park in Canyon County.  The OHV training facility is approximately 40 acres and has a number of trails for riders of all experience levels, including several acres of flat ground for beginner training.  The training facility is also equipped with paved, ADA-compliant parking, as well as three sun-shade areas complete with bleachers and picnic tables.  New bathrooms are also in the works for the OHV training facility and should be installed in the coming weeks.

The OHV training facility was funded in part through a partnership between Canyon County Parks, Recreation & Waterways and the Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation (IDPR).  Through the agreement, IDPR offers Responsible Rider OHV education courses at the facility for riders of any ability.  The rider safety courses are offered for no cost to citizens and are paid for by OHV and motorbike registration fees. IDPR encourages anyone who will be operating off-highway vehicles to complete the Responsible Riders OHV education course before operating on public lands, roads or trails. Idaho law requires any unlicensed OHV operator who will be riding on US Forest Service roads to attend an IDPR approved OHV safety course and carry with them their course completion certificate.

Canyon County Parks, Recreation & Waterways also wishes to express their extreme gratitude to the Pickles Butte Landfill and its director, Jack Biddle, for assisting in the completion of this project.

Park Overview
JUBILEE PARK is a 1350 acre park southwest of Nampa.  Offering an awesome 360 degree panoramic view of the Snake River Canyon, Owyhee Mountains and Boise Front vistas, Jubilee preserves the open spaces honoring the American Cowboy with equestrian trails, the George Nourse Shooting Range, historic and geological sites, OHV area, and even hang gliding.  Education, as in all other Canyon County Parks, is a top priority at Jubilee.

Jubilee Park is located near the Pickle’s Butte Landfill on Missouri Avenue.  Take Highway 45 south from Nampa; turn right on Missouri Ave.; Jubilee is at the end of the road.
