General Statement of Duties: The Database Administrator plans, maintains, develops and ensures the availability, recoverability, security and integrity of County databases. County Database Administrator responsibilities include administering the development, test, and production database environments. A Database Administrator works closely with other members of Information Technology in designing and implementing a proactive IT systems strategy. It is expected that this individual will also provide technical resources for other staff members; performs related work as required.

Classification Summary:  The primary function of the Database Administrator I is to plan, monitor, patch, develop and ensure the availability, recoverability, security and integrity of County databases. The work is performed under the general direction of the IT Operations Manager and Database Administrator III, but some latitude is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. Coordination with the Help Desk, technical support staff and development staff is essential. The principal duties of the position are performed in a general office environment.
