Bryan Taylor, Canyon County Prosecutor, announced today that Sean A. Crawford, age 36, of Nampa, was sentenced by the Honorable George A. Southworth on four felony counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child.
Judge Southworth sentenced Crawford to 1 year fixed, followed by 6 years indeterminate, for a total unified sentenced of 7 years in prison. Judge Southworth also ordered Crawford to register as a sex offender, submit a DNA sample to the Idaho database, and have no contact with any minors for the duration of the sentence. Crawford was also ordered to pay $1,200 in fines along with court costs.
Crawford was arrested on a felony warrant in February 2017 after an investigation by the Nampa Police Department revealed he was in possession of multiple images and videos of child pornography, some of which showed children as young as 3 or 4 years of age engaging in sexual acts with adults. During an interview with detectives, Crawford admitted to possessing the child pornography on his computer and multiple USB drives and admitted he uses them for his own sexual gratification.
“Although he wasn’t a physical perpetrator in this case, the defendant no doubt contributed to the ongoing sexual abuse of innocent children by downloading and viewing these images and videos of child pornography,” said Deputy Prosecutor Erica Kallin.
During sentencing, Judge Southworth added, “I always come back to the horrific nature of these crimes and the videos. They are troubling. I have determined this is the type of crime that in order to protect society and send a message to others that a prison term is appropriate.”
