The Third Judicial District Bar Association donated $1,000 to the Court Appointed Special Advocates after a barbecue July 1 for members of the Third District Bar and Canyon County employees. The Liberty Bell Barbecue featured a 100-pound pulled pork sandwich on a 48-inch bun, as well as an opportunity for people to ring the courtyard bell for an additional donation.

The Honorable Sergio Gutierrez, Idaho Court of Appeals was a special guest at the event.

The Third Judicial District consists of Adams, Canyon, Gem, Owyhee, Payette and Washington counties. Its Bar Association, a subsidiary of the Idaho State Bar, is 230 members strong. The Bar is dedicated to upholding and elevating the standards of honor, integrity, and courtesy within the legal profession and to facilitating the administration of justice. 
 
All proceeds from the barbecue were donated to the Third Judicial District Court Appointed Special Advocate program, which provides volunteers who are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children caught up in the maze of court and child welfare proceedings.
