Canyon County Mosquito Abatement District is reporting the following new West Nile Virus trap locations for the week ending August 8, 2009: One trap located near Syringa Middle School in Caldwell off Linden and Willow Brook Drive, one trap located at Wilson Ponds, Idaho Fish and Game fishing area in Nampa. One trap located at Simplot Potato processing plant, Caldwell. Another trap location on Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, public access number 4 off Lake Shore Drive. One trap located north of Parma at the end  of Sharp Lane and the Boise River and one trap located west of Wilder near the intersection of Arena Valley Road and Peckham Road near the Snake River.

Although the calculated mosquito infection rate remains low, Canyon County Mosquito Abatement District urges caution in areas that have reported West Nile Virus activity and people should take all the necessary self-protection steps when conducting outside activity by wearing mosquito repellant, cover any exposed skin by wearing long pants and long-sleeved shirts and wearing socks and shoes.

Canyon County Mosquito Abatement District will be conducting enhanced night time U.L.V. ("fogging") operations in the above areas this week as well as increased mosquito larvae control efforts.
