TAX REDUCTIONS
Each of the following programs are administered by the county assessor's
office. You may contact the assessor's office at (208) 454-7431.
HOMEOWNER'S EXEMPTION is an exemption on the value of an owner-occupied primary
residence including manufactured homes. The exemption applies to fifty percent
of the value of the residence (including up to one acre of land) or $75,000,
whichever is less. Applications are available from Canyon County Assessor's
Office. You must own and occupy the home before April 15th and apply for the
exemption by April 15th to receive the exemption for the current year.
PROPERTY TAX REDUCTION (PTR) FORMERLY KNOWN AS Circuit Breaker is a
program that reduces property taxes for qualified applicants. The amount of
reduction is based on income for the previous calendar year. Applications are
available from the Canyon County Assessor's Office and must be applied for
between January 1 and April 15th annually.
Qualifications are one or more of the following categories:
- Age 65 or Older
- Widow(er)
- Blind
- Fatherless or Motherless child
- Former Prisoner of War
- Veteran
- Disabled
And your income was $28,000 or less last year.
This amount is subject to change annually.
