Effective March 30, 2020, public access to the Canyon County Administration Building will be limited to the west entrance facing the 10th Avenue overpass. The other two entrances on 11th Avenue and Albany Street will be locked until further notice. Please find additional information below specific to each office and department located inside the Administration Building.

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT (1st FLOOR, SUITE #140)

  • PUBLIC ACCESS:  As of March 23, public access to the DSD front counter has been cordoned off.  All permit applications shall be dropped off on side counter or filed electronically (see below). The office will be closed from 12pm-1pm for lunch.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • BUILDING PERMIT INTAKE:  Applicants need to request an appointment to drop off permit applications.  Call (208) 454-7458 or email dsdinfo@canyonco.org to schedule a time.
    • BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE:  Permit techs will call or email applicants to schedule a permit pick up time.  No walk in pick-ups will be accepted.
    • MECHANICAL PERMIT INTAKE: Applications and payment are accepted remotely.
    • MECHANICAL PERMIT ISSUANCE: Permits are issued remotely.
    • INSPECTION REQUESTS: The inspection request phone line will run as normal though no retro mechanical inspections will be scheduled at this time.
    • INSPECTIONS:  All inspectors work remotely.  They all have sanitizer in their vehicles and will practice social distancing of 6’+ from any customers they may encounter.   Inspectors will not inspect occupied structures.  Those inspections will be deferred until structures are unoccupied and issuance of temporary certificates of occupancy may be considered at the discretion of the Building Official.
  • NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • ZONING AND FLOODPLAIN PERMIT APPLICATION INTAKE:  Applications will be electronically filed to dsdinfo@canyonco.org.  They will be reviewed for completeness, then the applicant will be asked to mail or drop off payment or remotely provide credit card payment.
    • PARCEL INQUIRIES:  Applications will be electronically filed to dsdinfo@canyonco.org.  Applicants will be billed for $35 fee.
    • GENERAL QUESTIONS: Customers can leave a voicemail with the main office number (208) 454-7458 or email dsdinfo@canyonco.org.

ASSESSOR’S OFFICE (2nd FLOOR, SUITE #250)

Effective March 30, 2020, through April 15, 2020, the following measures are being implemented by the Assessor’s Office:

  • The Assessor’s Office will be closed to walk-in public with following exception:
    • Open Monday’s 8:00 a.m. to noon for Manufactured Home transfers only.
  • Office Staffing
  • Homeowners Exemption
  • Property Tax Reduction (circuit breaker)/VA Application
  • Document Drop Box
    • Located on 1st floor of Administration Building – use the west entrance on 10th Avenue overpass side of the building

The Assessor’s Office encourages all people with PTR/VA applications to complete left side of application, sign and date, add phone number, and mail application back to our office. Please do not venture out to return your application.

TREASURER’S OFFICE (2nd FLOOR, SUITE #240)

Effective March 30, 2020, through April 15, 2020, the following measures are being implemented by the Treasurer’s Office:

  • In an effort to encourage residents to adhere to the statewide stay-home order, our office will be limiting public access temporarily. Public office hours will be limited to Mondays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to noon.  Should you have business that must be conducted in-person and are unable to visit during these limited office hours, please contact our office and arrangements will made by appointment to accommodate your needs.   • Staff will be in the office for telephone and e-mail inquiries Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    • Inquiries via e-mail may be sent to treas@canyonco.org. Response to inquiries will be received within 24 hours.
  • Property Tax Payments
    • Property tax payments are encouraged to be made through your financial institution utilizing the Bill Pay feature. Please reference your Property Tax Statement PIN as the account number and list the payee as Canyon County Tax Collector.
    • All payments done by mail should be addressed to: Canyon County Tax Collector, P O Box 730, Caldwell, Idaho 83606. 
    • On-line payment capabilities are also available via the internet utilizing credit/debit or electronic check, along with an automated voice payment option.  Please visit https://www.canyonco.org/elected-officials/treasurer/tax-payments.
    • A secure drop box will be made available on the first floor located at the west entrance of the Administration Building, should you wish to drop your payment off rather than placing in the mail. Cash payments WILL NOT be accepted. A wall drop slot is also located outside the office on the second floor.

INDIGENT SERVICES (3rd FLOOR, SUITE #340)

  • Regular Business Hours will be in effect until further notice. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Regular Business Hours will be in effect until further notice. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Marriage licenses are not being issued to out-of-county residents until further notice. Passport issuance has been temporarily suspended as well.
