The Canyon County Elections Office is looking for civic-minded and detail-oriented individuals who would like to help with the election process as a poll worker during the four consolidated elections each year. To apply, you must be at least 17-years-old and a U.S. Citizen.
Poll workers assist the Elections Office in administering elections during the four dates set forth under the Idaho election consolidation law:
- second Tuesday in March
- third Tuesday in May
- last Tuesday in August
- Tuesday after the first Monday in November
Poll workers must be able to work each election day from open to close, which is approximately 7:00 a.m. until shortly after the polls close at 8:00 p.m. The job of a poll worker is to assist voters at polling locations by checking in and registering voters, ensuring they are provided the correct ballot, and helping explain to voters how to cast their ballots correctly.
In addition to working the election days, poll workers will also be required to attend a short training class a couple of weeks prior to each election. Poll workers are paid $149 for each election.
Individuals interested in becoming a poll worker are encouraged to complete the application below or call the Elections Office at (208) 454-7562.
Informational sessions will be held on Wednesday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Please call the Elections Office for more information or to reserve your seat.
