Canyon County intends to apply to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for a Brownfields Cleanup Grant to help defray the cost of remediating and correcting petroleum contamination at the Anderson Corner site, located at 28040 Hwy 20-26 in Parma. The site was acquired by the county in 2017 due to the non-payment of property taxes, and the county wishes to clean-up the site and make it usable again with the assistance of EPA grant funding. The county has already been working closely with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality and Alta Science and Engineering, Inc. to assess the scope of the contamination at the property and find solutions to clean-up and correct it.
Before proceeding with the Brownfields Cleanup grant application, the county is required to hold a public meeting and gather public input on the proposed site clean-up and grant application. The public meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 8 at the Patricia Romanko Public Library in Parma. The county has also created an online survey for the public to provide input at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YD7K5C3. Additional comments are always welcome via email at email@example.com.
