Third Judicial District Administrative District Judge Bradly S. Ford announced today the selection of Courtnie R. Tucker of Middleton, Idaho as a Magistrate Judge for Canyon County to fill the vacancy being created by the retirement of the Honorable Frank P. Kotyk on September 30, 2017.   Ms. Tucker was selected from an original field of twenty applicants, eight of whom were interviewed at a meeting of the Third District Magistrates Commission in Caldwell, Idaho on August 11, 2017.

Ms. Tucker received her undergraduate degree from the University of Idaho in 1994 and her law degree from the University of Idaho College Of Law in 1997.  Since 2007, Ms. Tucker has been an owner/partner in a private law practice, Tucker & Knox, LLP. Ms. Tucker’s practice has encompassed a wide variety of legal matters, including divorce, child support, child custody, guardianship, adoptions, and criminal defense work. From 2002 to 2007, Ms. Tucker operated her own law practice, Tucker Law Office, focusing primarily on family law matters and criminal defense. From 1997 to 2002, Ms. Tucker worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney in the Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office handling a wide range of criminal matters, including infractions, misdemeanors, and felonies.

Ms. Tucker will begin her judicial duties on October 1, 2017 in the Canyon County Magistrates Division in Caldwell, Idaho.
