Anyone with questions related to COVID-19 is encouraged to call the Southwest District Health call center at (208) 455-5411. The call center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Updated information can also be found by visiting www.coronavirus.idaho.gov.

Canyon County encourages all of our residents to adhere to the statewide stay-home order issued by Governor Brad Little on March 25, 2020. This order will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on April 15, 2020 (unless extended, descended, or superseded). The order means that all residents of Idaho must stay at home unless they need to perform essential activities or go to work to provide essential business and government services. Once those activities are over for the day, people should return home immediately.

In accordance with the Governor’s order and to help prevent the potential spread and exposure of COVID-19 in our communities, Canyon County has implemented the following measures:

Motor Vehicle Office closed to the public
The Motor Vehicle Registration Office at the DMV is closed to the public as of noon on March 17. The closure will remain in place until further notice. The office staff will continue working during the public closure and people can still renew vehicle registrations via mail or online through the ITD website. The Assessor’s Office will reevaluate over the next two weeks and provide additional updates as they become available.

Driver’s License Office closed to the public/ITD expands online services
The Driver’s License Office is closed to the public until further notice. Beginning the week of March 30, the office will temporarily open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am – noon for CDL services and sex offender registrations. These are the ONLY services that will be provided during these temporary openings on Tuesdays and Thursdays

The Idaho Transportation Department has temporarily expanded its online driver’s license services. Please click here for more information. 

Courthouse operations
In response to the statewide Order to Self-Isolate issued by the Director of the Idaho Department of Health Welfare on March 25, 2020, the Idaho Supreme Court issued its Order regarding an Emergency Reduction in Court Services and Limitation of Access to Court Facilities on March 26, 2020.  The Idaho Supreme Court’s Order restricts the number of court hearings that may be held during the pendency of the Order to Self-Isolate.

Updated information on court cases is available on the iCourt portal at mycourts.idaho.gov. If you believe you may have a hearing scheduled on a given day, please check the Daily Court Schedule on the Canyon County Website at https://apps.canyonco.org/courtsSched/.  If you have a question about any upcoming hearing or court date, please call the Canyon Clerk’s Office at (208) 454-7571.

Parks, Cultural & Natural Resources
Beginning Friday, March 27, 2020, restroom facilities will be unavailable at all Canyon County-owned Parks in order to protect staff and visitors and prevent the spread of disease. The Celebration Park Visitor Center and Canyon Crossroads Museum will be closed until further notice and we are closing Celebration Park for all camping effective March 26, 2020. All Canyon County Parks, Cultural & Natural Resources Department programs, events, camps, activities, and volunteer opportunities are also canceled until further notice. This includes the cancelation of all on-site interpretive tours.

Court Assistance Office
The Court Assistance Office will be closed for walk-in assistance beginning March 23 until further notice. Assistance will still be available via phone at (208) 454-7455 or email at cao@canyonco.org. The weekly legal forms workshop has also been canceled until further notice. Free court forms can be downloaded here; documents can be e-filed here. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Misdemeanor Probation
The Misdemeanor Probation Department will be closed to the public beginning at noon on Friday, March 27, until further notice. Staff will continue working and will be able to assist probationers and the public by phone at (208) 454-7260. Probationers can also call their Probation Officer’s direct line for assistance.

Juvenile Probation
The Juvenile Probation Department is closed to the public until further notice. Staff is available to assist over the phone at (208) 454-7330. Probation officers can also be reached directly for assistance; their contact info can be found on their website under the Staff tab.

Weed & Pest Control
Beginning on March 25, the Weed & Pest Control Office located at 15435 Highway 44 in Caldwell will be closed to the public until further notice. Assistance will still be available during the public closure by calling (208) 459-0510.

Canyon County Fair
The Canyon County Fair Office is closed to the public. Additionally, all events at the Canyon County Fair Building have been postponed until further notice. The decision to postpone the events comes after advice and guidance from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and Southwest District Health to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure to the general public and vulnerable population.

Pickles Butte Sanitary Landfill
Pickles Butte Landfill is only accepting payments by debit or credit card at this time. Cash payments WILL NOT be accepted until further notice. This change is being implemented out of an abundance of caution and to help limit the potential exposure and spread of COVID-19 among customers and employees. Residents are also asked to please limit Landfill visits to those that are absolutely necessary. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning & Zoning Commission hearings scheduled for April 2 and April 16 have been continued until further notice.
