The Canyon County Development Services Department (DSD) announced today that it has finalized the draft version of its updated 2030 Comprehensive Plan, which is designed to provide a roadmap for future growth in Canyon County. You can review the complete draft of the updated plan along with links to key sections of the plan by clicking on the link below.
“This is the first update to the County’s Comprehensive Plan since 2011, and it comes at a time when we are experiencing unprecedented growth across the Treasure Valley”, said Development Services Director Steve Fultz. “Even with the growth we’ve experienced, this plan puts a renewed focus on preserving farmland by encouraging high-density developments in and around our already existing cities. I’m hoping people will take the time to review the plan and ask questions and provide feedback, which we will incorporate into the plan as we work to finalize it in the coming months.”
Residents are encouraged to view the draft plan on the county website and provide feedback through the online comment form or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. DSD staff will also hold a series of open houses to discuss the updated plan and allow the public to ask questions and provide feedback. The open houses will take place each Wednesday in September from 4pm – 7pm at the following locations:
- Sept. 8: Middleton Trolley Station – 310 Cornell St., Middleton, ID 83644
- Sept. 15: Canyon County Administration Building – 111 N 11th Ave, Caldwell, ID 83605
- Sept. 22: Nampa Library (Multi-purpose room) – 215 12th Ave S, Nampa, ID 83686
- Sept. 29: Wilder Fire District – 601 Patriot Way, Wilder, ID 83676
“I really want to encourage our residents to get involved in this process and provide feedback – either by attending an open house or by reviewing the draft plan on our website. This is their opportunity to weigh in on how they want to see growth occur in Canyon County over the next ten years,” added Fultz.
