The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office wants the public to know that the Driver’s License Office located inside the DMV will remain open for now. Unless otherwise notified, office staff will continue to serve customers as best they can while also taking measures to limit the potential exposure and spread of COVID-19. These measures include limiting the number of customers allowed inside the facility to 10-15 at any given time. This will result in some customers having to wait outside for a period of time until space inside the facility opens up.
The Sheriff’s Office is aware that most of the surrounding counties have shut down their driver’s license operations, and that these closures combined with the precautionary measures being taken to limit exposure will limit their overall ability to serve customers. They ask that the public be patient and understanding of the situation. Additionally, with the Idaho Transportation Department’s announcement yesterday that they are issuing a 90-day extension on expiring credentials, the Sheriff’s Office asks that visits be temporarily limited to only those people who absolutely need to obtain a driver’s license, ID card, or learner’s permit.
The Sheriff’s Office plans to reassess the situation daily and will provide additional updates as they become available.
The Canyon County Driver’s License Office is located at 6107 Graye Lane in Caldwell. The hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
