SHERIFF'S OFFICE
The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office Administration consists of Sheriff Kieran Donahue, Chief Deputy Douglas S. Hart, the Office of Professional Standards, Emergency Management, Spillman Applications, Training, Finance, Purchasing and Statistics. Each section in Sheriff’s Administration is supervised by a highly trained and experienced Deputy. Each of these units work closely with the other four sections of the Sheriff’s Office and strive to provide the highest level of service.
Sheriff Donahue
Sheriff Kieran Donahue has been in law enforcement since 2004. Donahue has held several positions within Canyon County Sheriff’s Office: including Detention
Deputy, School Resource Officer, Narcotics Detective, Metro Violent Crimes and Gang Task Force Officer and Detective Corporal for the Criminal Investigation Section. Sheriff Donahue was the first Canyon County Sheriff’s Office member to be assigned to the FBI Metro Violent Crime and Gangs Task Force in the Treasure Valley.
Sheriff Donahue joined the administration as Chief Deputy in 2012. He has extensive experience in multi-defendant, complex, long-term investigations. That extensive experience has helped Sheriff Donahue build strong working relationships with law enforcement and public safety partners in local, state, and federal agencies throughout the valley; a valuable asset to the Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Hart
Douglas S. Hart was appointed by Sheriff Kieran Donahue to serve as his Chief Deputy in October 2022. Chief Deputy Hart joined the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office after
a distinguished 27-year career with the FBI, where he served as the Supervisory Senior Resident Agent in Southern Idaho from 2015-2022. Prior to that, Hart served as the Task Force Coordinator for the Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crime Task Force from 2008-2015, where he oversaw numerous large-scale, multi-defendant investigations into criminal gang and drug trafficking organizations. Hart also served assignments on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation and the Honolulu Organized Crime Drug Squad before becoming Task Force Coordinator in 2008.
Welcome to Spillman Applications
Spillman Administration Office provides software administration of the Spillman Public Safety System. The Spillman software is comprised of three main areas.
- Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD). This software module is used to manage calls from multiple sources using multiple agencies in response to those calls. This system provides valuable data such as name, address, vehicle, and premises information. The system works in conjunction with Mobile Data Centers (MDC) located in each emergency vehicle and allows responding units to see and access the same valuable information.
- Records Management System (RMS) is used by the Sheriff’s Office to input, manage and extract critical law enforcement information for use by Officers, prosecutors, and various city, state and federal agencies alike.
- Jail Management System (JMS). This module offers the Sheriff’s Office a platform in which we can book, house, and release inmates. This system also allows us to track and store arrest and offense history.
Each of the above modules are integrated and linked to one another giving Canyon County authorities valuable information to assist in the following:
- Criminal Investigation
- Solving Crimes
- Criminal convictions
- Criminal history and associations
- Crime Analysis
- Crime prevention
- Data Sharing and Interoperability among other Agencies.
- Public Safety
- EMS Response
- Fire Response
- Animal Control

Personnel
The Personnel Office administers and manages the personnel functions within the Sheriff’s Office. Our main goal is to provide the necessary assistance to our 300+ employees and volunteers as well as service the general public. Our duties include recruitment, testing, and selection of employees, including background investigations, and physical agility testing.
