General Statement of Duties

Performs legal services to self-represented litigants in family law and other civil cases; performs related work as required.

Classification Summary

The primary function of an employee in this class is to assist self-represented litigants through the court process and systems. The Court Assistance Officer does not offer legal advice or represent litigants in court. The Court Assistance Officer first attempts to refer self-represented litigants to available legal services. The Court Assistance Officer answers general questions with regard to the court processes or procedures, legal forms, etc. Due to the nature of the job, extensive contacts with the public and good communication skills are required. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Trial Court Administrator. The principal duties of this class are performed in an office environment.

Compensation: $44,819.39 – $58,458.52 Annually DOE
