The Canyon County Juvenile Probation Department is hosting their fourth annual Kicking Truancy Community Event on Saturday, August 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Griffiths Park in Caldwell. This free community event coincides with National Truancy Prevention Month and shares the goal of raising awareness and building community partnerships that remove barriers and encourage kids to stay in school.
“This event has grown each year thanks to our generous partners and the community, and I fully expect that this year we’ll be able to deliver a record amount of school supplies and other critical resources to the youth and families of our communities,” said Mike Davidson, Project Coordinator for the Canyon County Juvenile Probation Department. “There will be many agencies and resources on-site the day of the event, and I would encourage everyone to join us as we come together to fight against truancy and help keep our kids be engaged and successful in school.”
The family-friendly event includes free food and drinks as well as free activities for all ages, including a kickball tournament, bounce houses, dunk tank, face painting, and more. There will also be a free raffle with drawings for backpacks, school supplies, school shopping vouchers, and bicycles.
