Canyon County is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals to serve on the Planning & Zoning Commission. Membership on the Commission is by appointment of the Board of County Commissioners and is for a 4-year term. The requirements to apply are as follows:
- Must reside in Canyon County for not less than two (2) years; and must remain a resident of the county during his/her service on the Commission (CCCO Chapter 7 Article 3).
- Appointment for this position authorizes the member to become a voting member of the Commission on Local Land Use considerations brought before the Commission for public hearings (Local Land Use Planning Act Title 67 Idaho State Statutes).
- Members of the Commission shall make every reasonable effort to attend all regularly scheduled, joint and special meetings of the Commission – public hearings are scheduled the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m., unless otherwise noticed.
- Candidates must be willing to commit a reasonable amount of time preparing for cases to be heard; this may include review of case documents prior to the hearing; and/or a site visit for cases to be heard before the Commission.
Interested parties are encouraged to apply by filling out the Planning & Zoning Commission Application and submitting it to the Commissioners’ Office, located on the first floor of the Courthouse. The first review of applications will be October 30, 2017.
